First it was streetwear (as seen on @PeteDavidson at the VMAs), now @NASA is exploring two new frontiers, selfies and VR. In honor of the 15th anniversary of the Spitzer Space Telescope launch, the agency has launched two apps; NASA Selfies, allowing users to create out of this world self-portraits using some of NASA’s most awe-inspiring images of outer space and NASA Exoplanet Excursions VR, an experience available on both Oculus, Vive, and YouTube 360˚ that offers a virtual glimpse at the TRAPPIST-1 solar system. One small step for NASA, one giant leap into space for mobile users everywhere.
Literally translating to “health” in Japanese, @kenckocom is a new tech startup that is revolutionizing the juice-craze. Perfect for wellness conscious and subscription box obsessed Millennials, subscribers receive a BPA-free reusable water bottle and their choice of six different fruit and veggie combinations in powdered sachets delivered monthly. Additionally, Kencko is 100% organic, all-natural, sugar-free and utilizes a freeze-drying technique that maintains minerals, proteins, vitamins, and other general goodness instantly by simply adding water.
Recording artist and overall cool girl @SZA has been giving fans a sneak peek into her latest project: creating merch for the earth. Rumor has it, the sweatshirt and tee brand is called “Ctrl Fishing Co” and 100% of the proceeds will go to sustainability efforts. Combining two things near and dear to Gen Zs—streetwear and sustainability—it’s no wonder people are eagerly waiting for the line to drop.
With the popularity of short online content (hello Vine!) that Gen Zs can’t seem to get enough of, it only makes sense that the first-ever GIPHY Film Fest has been announced. Hosted by @GIPHY and powered by @Squarespace, the fest is asking for audiovisual storytellers to create compelling and entertaining masterpieces in categories such as narrative, stop-motion, animated, experiential, and wildcard, all with one major restriction: the films must be 18 seconds or less. Held on November 8th in New York City, the festival will screen the best of the micro-films and a panel of judges, including @Spotify’s Global Creative Director Alex Bodman, will ultimately select one winner.
